We talked to them in more detail after the sale had completed about the challenges they faced, what was involved and any advice they’d have for others starting out on the sales journey – here’s what they had to say….
Q: Do you feel you received at good level of service from the team at Frank Taylor & Associates?
Yes. From start to finish the service was excellent from all members of the team. We were well supported and updated during the whole process.
Q: What was your biggest fear/worry about selling your practice?
We had built the practice up together over 23 years and felt great responsibility for both staff and patients. So our main concern was how to find the most suitable successors who would carry on where we left off, but would also be keen to move the practice forward.
Q: How quickly did you accept an offer?
We accepted an offer within a week of the process going to sealed bids. Suzie was particularly good at keeping us regularly informed at the viewings/offers stage.
Q: What was the most challenging part of your sale?
We knew gathering the due diligence would be a huge task so we started getting information together ahead of time with the help of a checklist from FTA. Even so, it was very time-consuming. The buyers’ solicitors were also not experienced in the procedures involving the CQC and the Local Area Team (LAT), so our solicitors from FTA Law had to guide them through this.
Q: Would you do anything differently if you had the chance again?
No, because we had confidence we had chosen the right agent, Frank Taylor & Associates, and the right solicitors, FTA Law.
Q: Do you have any advice or tips to share with future sellers?
Make sure you use teams who are experienced in dealing with the CQC and LAT and are ready to step in when things get complicated and delayed. The selling process is stressful on top of the day- to- day running of a practice so it is great to have support by telephone or email when you need it – even for the simplest queries.
Q: Why did you choose to sell with FTA over other agents?
We knew FTA had a great reputation, but we went to presentations by various agents to be fully informed. We heard a talk by FTA for both buyers and sellers and were so impressed by their professionalism and integrity that the decision to sell with them was easy and has proved to be absolutely the right one.
Q: What are your plans for the future now that you’ve sold your practice?
One partner retired on sale of the practice and the other continued for a further two months to assist in transition. Now we are taking time to enjoy freedom after nearly 40 years in dentistry!
